Senator Shehu Sani has dismissed the idea that Donald Trump would take a strong interest in Nigeria’s elections, saying those trying to involve the US president are simply wasting their time.
Sani made the comment in reference to Davido’s earlier message to US President Donald Trump concerning the Osun State election.
He stated that those hoping to draw Trump into Nigeria’s electoral affairs are wasting their time, citing the president’s approach to elections in other African countries.
In a post on his X account, he wrote:
“Those who are trying to drag Mr Trump into our elections are just wasting their time.Trump is not Obama or Biden. He has least interest in the credibility or otherwise of elections in Africa. The elections in Tanzania,Uganda and Cameroon are case studies. Mr Trump’s hands is full with Strait of Hormuz,Gaza and Ukraine; And most importantly, his party is battling to survive the upcoming Senate and House of Representatives elections.”
According to Sani, Trump currently has more pressing issues to deal with, including the Strait of Hormuz, Gaza and Ukraine, while his Republican Party is also preparing for the upcoming US Senate and House of Representatives elections.
