Natasha Osawaru, wife of singer 2face Idibia and the lawmaker representing Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, has been named the Assembly’s new minority leader.
Her appointment was announced during plenary on Monday as the House carried out a reshuffle of its principal leadership positions.
Osawaru takes up the role under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), following her move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May 2026.
The new position places her among the lawmakers responsible for providing opposition leadership and holding the government to account on the floor of the Assembly.
Reacting to her elevation in a statement shared on her Facebook page, Osawaru said the responsibility comes with a duty to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the democratic process.
She wrote:
“This new responsibility is not a title; it is a trust. Our democracy thrives on rigorous debate, accountability, and the courage to advocate for the ordinary citizen without compromise.”
