Tiwa Savage has explained why she chose to feature Odumodublvck, saying she has noticed a difference in how some female collaborations are supported compared with songs featuring male artists.
According to the singer, she has had situations where songs featuring female artists did not receive the promotion she expected. She said working with Odumodublvck was a practical decision because of the audience and streams she knew the collaboration could attract.
Speaking on a podcast, Tiwa Savage said :
“When I feature female artists they don’t promote the songs. So when I feature Odumodublvck, knowing it’ll give me millions of streams, they start complaining.”
Tiwa also pointed to her relationships with Yemi Alade and Ayra Starr as examples of how she has responded when people tried to create rivalry between female artists.
“When they pitted me against Yemi Alade, I brought her on my show. When they pitted me against Ayra Starr, I made a song with her.”
For Tiwa, those collaborations have been a way of choosing cooperation rather than getting drawn into comparisons between women in the music industry.
