Political activist Usman Okai Austin has taken a swipe at the rising cost of living in Abuja, saying workers earning below N300,000 a month are barely surviving.
In a post he shared, he wrote: “If you earn below N300k in Abuja, the difference between you and Almajiri is the plate.”
The statement reflects the financial pressure facing low-income earners in Nigeria, as the cost of basic necessities continues to rise.
In cities like , Lagos, Abuja, where the cost of living is particularly high, workers also have to deal with rising electricity bills, healthcare costs and other daily expenses. This has made it increasingly difficult for people on modest salaries to cover their needs and still have money left at the end of the month.
