Seyi Vibez wanted to get signed to Wizkid’s Starboy Records and, like many young artistes looking for their big break, he tried to find a way to reach the label.
At the time, he was only 13 and decided to search Google for information on how to get signed. He came across a phone number and called, thinking it could lead him to someone connected to the record label.
According to Seyi Vibez, the person who answered the call told him he needed to pay ₦10,000. He took the request seriously and decided to raise the money himself. In the end, he sold his phone and sent the money to the person.
Speaking on WAZOBIA F.M, he said:
“I had wanted to sign to Wizkid’s Starboy Record label at 13, then I searched on Google ‘How to sign to Starboy Record’ I saw one number, then I called the number. The person asked me to pay ₦10,000 and then I sold my phone and sent him the money.”
It was an experience that showed just how determined he was to get into the music industry at a very young age.
