Femi Kuti has explained the reason he married his first wife, saying the decision was largely connected to his children being able to obtain British passports.
Speaking during an interview with Channels Television, the musician said he had been honest with his first wife about his views on relationships even before they got married.
He said:
“I married my wife so my Children Could Get British Passports. I told my first wife before we got married that I love women and could never be faithful to just one woman. I only married her so my children could get a British passport.”
Femi said his first wife was aware of his position before the marriage, making it clear that he did not see himself as someone who could remain faithful to only one woman.
