Police in Kano State have taken two people into custody following the de.ath of Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu, a political commentator who was known for discussing politics and religion online.
Danshagamu was discovered de.ad at his home in Gaida Quarters, within Kumbotso Local Government Area, on Monday, September 7. He was reportedly a.ttacked and had his throat slit.
The incident was reported to the police late that night, at about 11:30pm. Officers from the Kumbotso Division went to the house and later took him to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in Kano.
He was pronounced de.ad when he arrived at the hospital.
The police spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the development and said:
“Operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division promptly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed de.ad on arrival by a medical doctor,”.
Two suspects have since been arrested as detectives try to piece together what led to the a.ttack.
“The suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation. The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend any other persons who may be connected to the crime,” the statement added.
