The High Court in Abuja has adjourned the defamation suit filed by actress Judy Austin against her former husband, Emmanuel Obasi, to November 24.
Judy filed the case in July, asking the court to award her N1 billion in general damages over alleged defamatory publications made by Obasi.
She is also asking the court to order Obasi to publish a full and unreserved retraction and apology in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and on his social media platforms.
In addition, she wants the court to restrain Obasi and his agents from making further publications about her which she considers defamatory, and to order him to remove the posts already published.
According to the court papers, Judy is also seeking N500 million in aggravated damages and another N500 million in exemplary damages.
She listed N100 million as the cost of prosecuting the suit and also requested another N100 million as the cost of the action.
The matter came up in court on Tuesday 29th September, and Obasi said the proceedings went well.
He also said his lawyer had filed a case challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.
The case has now been adjourned until November 24.
