Fireboy DML has explained why he believes people may not really know enough about him to misunderstand him.
The singer was speaking during a question-and-answer session around his forthcoming album, ZUKO, when he was asked about how people see him and whether he considers himself a misunderstood artist.
His answer was quite simple. According to him, he has never given the public much access to his personality or his life outside music.
He said:
“They don’t know me enough to misunderstand me. I don’t think they know me ’cause I don’t give them enough personality. I don’t give them enough gist into my personal life.”
For him, keeping certain parts of his life away from the public is part of how he has chosen to live and work. He also pointed to the way he has stayed away from controversies and the kind of publicity that can sometimes surround music promotion.
“I don’t have scandals, I don’t relate with other artists, I don’t sell my music with gimmicks”, he stated.
