Singer Rema has recalled the first time he met Aliko Dangote and the moment that made him appreciate just how much the billionaire had achieved.
Speaking about people who could make him feel small despite his own success, Rema mentioned Dangote.
Speaking in an interview, he said:
“I won’t say, like, feel broke. I was just sitting with the richest black man in history, you know, Dangote”.
For Rema, it was not about seeing expensive cars, watches or other displays of wealth. It was simply knowing who he was sitting with.
“It’s crazy, his presence. It’s not like I saw some private jet or some crazy watch.
“That’s just the richest black man, bro! That’s a flex in itself. What more do you need?”, he stated.
Rema also remembered how simple their first meeting was.
“Very great, humble man, very smart, very wise. I think the first day we met we ate on the same plate,” he said.
He also recalled Dangote’s interest in buying Arsenal, the football club Rema supports.
“I just remember when he was going to buy my club, Arsenal. I was waiting for him,” Rema said.
But Dangote is not the only billionaire who could leave Rema impressed.
He said a message from Elon Musk would still be a big deal for him, especially if Musk reached out with an opportunity involving Tesla or SpaceX.
According to Rema, getting a direct message from Musk inviting him to work on a Tesla campaign would definitely catch his attention.
An invitation to travel to space with SpaceX, he said, would be on another level.
