Mayorkun has recalled a piece of advice Davido gave him when he was still getting used to the attention that came with rising to the top of the Nigerian music scene.
According to Mayorkun, Davido noticed that he was getting carried away by the attention from women around him.
Rather than let him figure things out the hard way, Davido pulled him aside and told him to calm down.
Speaking in an interview, Mayorkun said:
“He told me about women. He noticed how excited I was getting, so he called me aside and said, ‘Calm down. You see all these baddies? You will see them again o, but you will see them moving with the newer artistes who are at the height of their careers. So calm down.’ Thank God I took the advice, because I saw it o.”
Mayorkun said he eventually understood exactly what Davido meant. As new artistes started making their way into the spotlight, the attention naturally shifted towards them, just as Davido had predicted.
