Former Actors Guild of Nigeria President, Emeka Rollas, has apologised to actress Regina Daniels, her mother Rita Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko over comments he made during the family’s marital crisis last year.
Rollas had spoken about the situation in November 2025, saying Regina needed help.
He also questioned Rita Daniels’ decision to contest for the AGN presidency at a time when her daughter was dealing with a difficult situation.
Months later, Rollas said he had taken time to think about how he handled the matter and admitted that he got it wrong.
In a post, he said:
“Upon deep and sincere reflection, I realised I was wrong and I am not proud of how I handled that moment. I now understand that the family was facing a deeply personal and difficult period and I should not have taken that path.”
According to him, he recently ran into Rita Daniels by chance. The meeting, as well as efforts by people around them to bring them together, made him reflect further on what had happened.
Rollas then apologised to Rita Daniels and her family, Ned Nwoko and his family, Regina Daniels, the AGN Board of Trustees and some of his colleagues whose names came up during the controversy.
“Leadership is not only about having the courage to speak. It is also about having the humility to acknowledge when we could have spoken differently. I am human. I made a mistake. I have reflected. And today, I say sincerely: I am sorry”, he said.
Rollas also made it clear that he was not expecting anyone to accept the apology simply because he had offered it.
“Whether anyone chooses to accept it or not is entirely their decision. But I have made it, not because I am afraid to take a position, but because I believe in honouring relationships, respecting privacy, and standing by the values that should guide us. I choose peace. I choose reconciliation. I choose dignity. I choose respect”, he added.
