Rapper Odumodublvck believes his music played a part in making Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice a familiar name among football fans in Nigeria.
According to the rapper, many Nigerians were not familiar with Rice until he mentioned the England international in one of his songs.
He believes the attention that followed helped put the midfielder on the radar of more people in the country, long before his big-money move to Arsenal.
Speaking about his role in an interview, Odumodublvck said:
“I introduced Declan Rice to Nigerians. Before I sang about him, nobody knew about him. It was after I sang about him that he blew up, and Arsenal discovered and signed him for over 100 million.”
Rice eventually joined Arsenal from West Ham United in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth an initial £100 million, with a further £5 million in potential add-ons.
