Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has spoken about his personal relationship with Peter Obi, making it clear that their political differences have not affected the friendship between their families.
Soludo said he and the NDC presidential aspirant have remained close over the years, with their families sharing a strong bond.
He explained that their relationship goes beyond politics, as their wives also have special roles in each other’s families.
Speaking in an interview with BBC News Igbo, Governor Soludo said:
“We are close friends, and our families are also very close. His wife is my daughter’s godmother, while my wife is his daughter’s godmother. But when it comes to politics, we have different visions.
“Before the 2023 election, I told him he should come so we could build APGA, not because we were going to win, but to organise our people.”
The Anambra governor made the remarks during an interview with BBC Igbo, where he spoke about his friendship with Obi and the political differences between them.
His account also recalled the conversation he had with Obi before the 2023 general election, when he suggested that they work together through the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), with the aim of strengthening the party and organising their political base.
