Days after a fire destroyed 21 exotic vehicles at his car lot in Lagos, car dealer Moses Benz is still struggling to come to terms with the loss.
The inferno wiped out his business, destroying vehicles worth over ₦1 billion. Some of the cars belonged to customers who had paid him to buy them but were yet to take delivery.
Recounting what happened and the extent of the damage, the dealer said his personal vehicles alone were worth over ₦500 million, while customers also lost cars valued at more than ₦200 million.
In a post shared on X, he said:
“It is only God that knows what happened.
I had cars worth over ₦500 million in my lot, and it wasn’t just my cars that got burnt. My customers’ cars worth over ₦200 million were also destroyed. They hadn’t even had the chance to pick up the cars they paid me to buy for them”.
The loss has left him with an entire business to rebuild and customers whose vehicles were destroyed before they could even collect them.
He is now appealing to the affected customers and members of the public for help, saying he is unsure where to begin after losing almost everything in the fire.
