Kebbi Rehab Itself Needs Rehabilitation- NDLEA

    From Punch
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Commander in Kebbi
State, Alhaji Abdullahi Zungeru, has decried the “poor condition of the drugs
rehabilitation centre in Zuru Local Government Area of the state.”
Zungeru made the remark when he received the wife of the
state governor, Dr. Zainab Atiku, when she visited the centre on Saturday.
The commander, who lamented that the centre had been
abandoned for years and lacked medical personnel, staff and toilet facilities,
appealed to the state government to rehabilitate it.

He said the lack of facilities and staff had exposed the
    inmates to many health hazards.
He added that the situation became worse as the centre had
only one guard and one nurse.
He appealed to the state government to assist the centre
with medical and administrative personnel and rehabilitate the skills
acquisition facilities for the training of inmates.
The wife of the governor, who donated drugs to the centre,
said she would ensure that it was revived, “considering the services the centre
renders to drug addicts and the society.”
Atiku, however, urged parents to monitor the movements of
their wards and children and watch the kinds of friends they keep.

She said parents must ensure that their children were
engaged in fruitful ventures as they grow into adulthood so as to keep them
away from vices such as drug abuse.
