The Nigeria music industry has evolved into a global
phenomenon with the emergence of young, vibrant, talented entertainers,
songwriters and producers who churn out amazing tunes at an amazing frequency
to keep the attention of their growing global fan base while gaining
international recognition and success.

There seems to be no end in sight to this revolution with a
drive by young and talented prospects aspiring to make a name for themselves in
the entertainment industry. Many uber-talented singer-songwriters however do
not make it to the big stage, playing for the equivalent of beer money in
restaurants, make shift hangout spots, on street corners and basically
everywhere that will have them.

The growing importance of empowering indigenous unknown
talents, providing recognition and a launch pad for a successful career in the
entertainment industry necessitated the birth of an initiative, “Lets Go

Lets Go Naija in its inaugural stage would run for 3 months
starting August 7, 2014 and would be implemented through a syndicated radio

This initiative which is powered by Shell Nigeria will also

benefited from Shell-Nigeria’s numerous empowerment initiatives around the
country and would seek to educate its listeners on the importance of energy and

A critical aspect of the “Lets Go Naija” initiative is the
segment for the “unknowns” which spotlights singers, comedians and
musicians to be judged by an online audience that would decide (through a
voting system) the top acts on a weekly basis to vie for the spot of the next
top rated Nigerian act.
