In a recent interview with The Punch, rapper Falz revealed that he deliberately avoided addressing Nigerian issues in his latest EP, “Before the Feast”

Instead, he chose to focus on creating a project that exudes positivity and encourages listeners to adopt a mindset of hope and resilience.
Falz explained that he intentionally toned down on sociopolitically conscious lyrics, opting for a more uplifting approach.
He wanted to convey a sense of optimism and empowerment, without resorting to complaining or dwelling on negative issues.
The rapper also opened up about his decision to experiment with diverse genres on the EP, stating that he aimed to “cleanse the palette” of his listeners and offer a fresh perspective.
With each song featuring a different producer, Falz successfully achieved a unique and eclectic sound that sets “Before the Feast” apart.
By intentionally shifting his focus away from complaining and towards inspiration, Falz hopes to instill a sense of pride and unity in his listeners, encouraging them to embrace their African identity and look towards a brighter future.
Falz said;
“On this project, I am not doing much of the social or political commentary that I typically do. There are socially conscious lyrics, but not particularly about the affairs of the country
“That is intentional as well. I resolved not to complain because the emotion I am trying to convey has to be one that comes without that element of complaining. I want to put the listener in the mindset I feel they should have as African existing in 2024.”
He continued;
“It was very intentional to fuse my music genre. What I want to do with the EP is to cleanse the palette of the listener. I aimed to make it as diverse as possible with the sounds
“It is interesting that only one producer worked on more than one song on the project. Each song has a new producer, which was not even intentional. That allowed us to achieve a wide range of sounds. So, yes, it was intentional.”
