This development follows a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja, which granted Kyari a two-week bail to enable him to bury his mother, who passed away on May 5.

Kyari’s release was confirmed by the spokesperson of the FCT Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Adamu Duza, who stated that Kyari had perfected his bail conditions and was subsequently released on Friday.

Kyari’s arrest on February 14, 2022, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) was in connection with his alleged involvement with an international drug cartel.

He was arraigned on March 7, 2022, alongside four members of the Police Intelligence Response Team – Sunday Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba, and John Nuhu – as well as two suspected drug traffickers, Chibunna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne.

While Kyari and the IRT members pleaded not guilty to the charges, Umeibe and Ezenwanne pleaded guilty and were convicted.
