The lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has officially announced his defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) back to the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Jibrin made the announcement on Monday through his Facebook page, revealing that his supporters had unanimously agreed to leave the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement to realign with the ruling APC.

“Today, in a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano,” he wrote.
He added that the gathering of supporters resolved to join the APC and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections.
According to Jibrin, nearly 2,000 scholars from his constituency offered special prayers for President Tinubu, seeking peace, progress, and development for Kiru/Bebeji, Kano State, and Nigeria as a whole.
His return to the APC comes two months after he was expelled from the NNPP over alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of dues.
Reacting to his expulsion at the time, Jibrin had described the party’s action as “shocking and unjustified,” arguing that the interview cited as grounds for his suspension did not merit such punishment. He accused the NNPP of violating due process and fair hearing, saying he was expelled without being given a chance to defend himself.
Despite the controversy, Jibrin said he had accepted the decision in good faith and would not challenge it in court.
