Nollywood actor Charles UgoChukwu has taken to Instagram to criticize seating arrangements in some Lagos churches, calling out what he sees as a form of classism

In his post, UgoChukwu noted the irony of churches reserving the first three rows for latecomers while early attendees, who arrive well before service starts, are often seated at the back.

He wrote: “Dear Lagos Churches, You say service starts at 9am, but you reserve the first three rows of seats for people who stroll in at 10:30am, while those who showed up at 8:30am are made to sit behind. Please make it make sense. (I’m genuinely seeking a reasonable explanation).”

He further reflected on the human tendency to create social hierarchies, noting, “Classism is a human construct. Thank God salvation is personal and a relationship with God is very individual.”
