Actor Yomi Fabiyi has led a peaceful protest outside the Coroner Inquest Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, calling for justice in the case of the late singer Mohbad.
On Wednesday, protesters, dressed in black T-shirts, gathered in response to Fabiyi’s earlier call for public participation in seeking justice for the deceased artist.
The inquest, which resumed at the Ikorodu Magistrate Court, saw Mohbad’s parents, Joseph and Abosede Aloba, attending separately. The investigation began on September 29, 2023, following Mohbad’s sudden death on September 12. His body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, after his burial the day after his passing.
The initial autopsy did not provide conclusive evidence regarding Mohbad’s death, though traces of Diphenhydramine, a non-lethal antihistamine, were found. Dissatisfied with the findings, Mohbad’s family requested a more thorough, independent investigation. According to the family’s legal team, the ongoing two-part autopsy includes toxicology and histology tests.
Despite being key witnesses, singer Naira Marley and Sam Larry were notably absent from the court proceedings, even though they had been called to appear.
