Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott has narrated her 12-year battle with a kidney disease.
She disclosed this in an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo on “WithChude“
She revealed that her younger brother’s passing from the same illness led to her own diagnosis.
Initially diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease, Ufuoma’s condition progressed to stage 4, the final stage, after ignoring her doctor’s advice to rest.
The actress confessed to drug abuse, specifically excessive painkiller use, which exacerbated her condition.
For six months, Ufuoma was bedridden, unable to work or gain weight. She thought her life had ended, but then, she later found the strength to fight back.
