The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pushed back against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its reading of a recent Court of Appeal judgment tied to the party’s leadership tussle
In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, the party’s National Spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, faulted INEC’s move to remove its National Working Committee (NWC) from official records, describing the action as inconsistent and one-sided.

According to the ADC, the electoral body’s decision appears to have been influenced by outside political forces threatened by the party’s rising influence.
The controversy is linked to a March 12, 2026, ruling by the appellate court, which instructed all parties involved in the dispute to preserve the “status quo ante bellum” pending the resolution of the case between a faction loyal to Senator David Mark and another group led by Nafiu Bala.
Following that directive, INEC took down the names of the executive aligned with Mark from its portal, maintaining that their details were originally uploaded in September 2025 after the court case had already begun.
