Adebutu Accuse Commissioner For Disrupting Constituency Project

We don’t know what happened but whatever the case they should let him carry out the project, clean and safe water is good for the people. And whoever wants to do more should also do his, water is never too much, it just makes the prayers of the people heard, una do. How Punch reports the ‘political battle’…

A member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, has accused the Ogun State Government of frustrating a water project being undertaken by him as one of his constituency projects.

Adebutu, representing Ikenne/ Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, said the project is located at Lugoke community in Ward Four, Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Adebutu, while briefing journalists on Friday, accused the state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Osinowo, of disrupting the constituency project.

He alleged that the commissioner, an indigene of the town, led political thugs to stop workers at the project site.

Adebutu, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Development, said the project would ensure the provision of clean, potable and safe water to rural dwellers.

He said, “Unfortunately, the state government is denying its  people the opportunity to get safe water. It is really sad and quite unfortunate.”

But in a swift reaction, Osinowo denied the allegation levelled against him by Adebutu.

He explained that it was local government officials from the water corporation who stormed the site.
He said, “How can I invade the site? Am I a politician? My mother lives in the area where the project was sited and I only went there to visit my mother. Is there a crime in that?

“When I got there, there was disorderliness and I tried to settle the matter. What I saw was that the person supervising the project was very rude to the government officials that came.”

The leader of Lugoke community, Mr. Aliu Fatoye, appealed to the state government to allow the community to host the constituency project.
