Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on President Bola Tinubu to rein in the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, warning that his actions could spark a crisis in the state.
Speaking to journalists at the Government House in Osogbo, Adeleke accused Oyetola of colluding with security chiefs to enforce a non-existent court order aimed at reinstating sacked local government chairmen. He insisted that such actions violate the law and could lead to unrest.
The governor warned that if Oyetola is not restrained, the people of Osun would not hesitate to defend themselves. He urged Tinubu to direct the National Security Adviser and the Attorney General of the Federation to independently verify that the Court of Appeal ruling did not reinstate the dismissed chairmen and councilors.
Lamenting the alleged political influence of Oyetola, Adeleke stated, “It is unfortunate that Osun security chiefs are taking instructions from Mr. Gboyega Oyetola just because he is the nephew of Mr. President.”
While reaffirming his commitment to peace, he called on well-meaning Nigerians to intervene before the situation escalates.
