Nigeria’s D’Tigress have arrived back in the country after securing a historic fifth straight title at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire

The victorious squad touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday aboard two chartered flights carrying both players and officials.
They were welcomed by representatives from the National Sports Commission, the Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, members of the Association of Nigerian Women in Sports, and a small group of enthusiastic supporters.
Alongside the championship trophy, the team returned with a record-breaking accomplishment in African women’s basketball.
In Sunday night’s final at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, D’Tigress defeated Mali 78–64 to claim their seventh overall AfroBasket crown and stretch their unbeaten run in the tournament to 29 games – a streak dating back to 2015.
