Reports had claimed that Rollas was taken into custody over allegations of imposing an unelected chairman on the Abia State chapter of the AGN.

However, the AGN’s spokesman, Cornel Udofia, has refuted these claims, claiming they are “malicious and unfounded.”

According to Udofia, it was actually Rollas who voluntarily visited the police station to file a complaint.

The controversy stems from a dispute within the Abia State chapter of the AGN, which has been led by different interim governments since 2024. This followed an alleged hijacking of the chapter by a group led by David Amalaha, who conducted an illegal election without the national body’s consent.

Rollas attended this meeting to encourage participation from all members, particularly since he was already in Abia following the death of his mother-in-law.

“Our attention has been drawn to news making the rounds in local Abia blogs claiming that the AGN National President Dr Ejezie Emeka Rollas ,MON was arrested and detained by the police in Umuahia.

“Ordinarily these blogs do not deserve this refutal but for the benefit of teeming supporters of our National President who has been doing a great job and for the records.
