Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s aide has denied reports alleging that he collapsed and was flown to London for medical treatment
The claim, which surfaced on Monday across some online platforms, alleged that Akpabio was airlifted on a private jet to a London hospital after reportedly collapsing earlier in the month.

Responding to the rumour, the Senate President’s Consultant on Communications and Strategy, Kenny Okolugbo, dismissed the report as entirely false. When contacted, he described the claim as untrue, stating, “It’s a lie, fake news,” without offering further details.
The reports had alleged that Akpabio collapsed on the 10th of the month and was rushed abroad in a private jet supposedly provided by billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote. They further claimed that his alleged health condition kept him away from official engagements, including the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) interactive session held on Wednesday.
Additional claims suggested that the Senate President’s condition was serious enough to require continued medical care overseas and that it was allegedly the second time he had been flown to London for treatment. The reports also alleged that some senators travelled to London to visit him during the supposed hospitalisation.
Sources quoted in the reports further claimed that medical professionals had advised Akpabio to scale back his workload, with suggestions that he should step down from his duties to focus on his health. These claims, however, have been firmly rejected by his office.
