This was announced in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh, on Tuesday in Uyo.
According to Udoh, the approval followed the submission of the Minimum Wage and Personnel Verification report by the Head of Service, Effiong Essien, on Monday.
He noted that the payment would apply to 45,000 verified civil servants.
“The governor has authorized the commencement of the new minimum wage of N80,000 for 45,000 verified public service workers, starting at the end of this month and backdated to November 2024,” Udoh stated.
The statement also recalled that a committee for the implementation of the minimum wage was set up by the governor in December 2024 to ensure a seamless process.
