The newly installed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, and his wife, Olori Abiwumi Owoade, have paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu
This visit marks one of the monarch’s first official engagements since his coronation on April 5, 2025.
Oba Owoade, who was appointed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and formally ascended the throne on January 13, 2025, succeeds the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.
The meeting with President Tinubu is seen as a significant gesture reaffirming the enduring ties between Nigeria’s traditional institutions and its political leadership, highlighting the Alaafin’s role in fostering unity and cultural continuity in the country.
