Abia State Governor Alex Otti has visited IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu at Sokoto Correctional Centre on Sunday, assuring him that efforts to secure his release are ongoing
Otti was accompanied by Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu; Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN); and his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma. Officials from the Sokoto State Government were also present.

After the visit, Ekeoma said the governor encouraged Kanu to remain strong, noting that efforts he began over two years ago had been intensified. Otti expressed optimism that the matter would be resolved administratively and that Kanu would soon regain his freedom.
The governor also informed Kanu that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, had expressed support for a peaceful resolution. Otti jokingly mentioned that the Sultan referred to Kanu as his “subject” and suggested he would be turbaned, prompting laughter from the IPOB leader.

Kanu, reportedly in high spirits, thanked Otti for the visit, praised the development initiatives in Abia State, and urged the governor to continue focusing on good governance.
