Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote has regained his position as the richest person in Africa, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index
His net worth surged by $144 million in just 24 hours, reaching a total of $13.7 billion as of August 5, 2024.
This significant increase allowed Dangote to overtake South African tycoon Johann Rupert, who had briefly held the top spot.
Rupert’s net worth, on the other hand, declined by $334 million in the same period, dropping to $13.3 billion.
Dangote’s impressive rise has not only solidified his position as Africa’s wealthiest individual but also propelled him up the global rankings.
He jumped from 156th to 149th on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, surpassing seven influential billionaires.
In contrast, Rupert’s swift fall has seen him slip to the 155th spot among the world’s wealthiest individuals.
Dangote’s triumphant return to the top spot underscores his dominance in the business world and cements his status as a global financial powerhouse.
