“American Idol” honours late gospel star Mandisa

The iconic show “American Idol” paid heartfelt homage to the beloved gospel singer, Mandisa, who recentlypassed away in Nashville at the age of 47.

Mandisa, known for her uplifting music, had originally risen to fame through the very platform that remembered her so fondly.

Host Ryan Seacrest led the touching tribute, reminiscing on Mandisa’s infectious spirit and Grammy-winning talents. Former contestants Melinda Doolittle, Colton Dixon, and Danny Gokey came together to perform a soulful rendition of “Shackles (Praise You)” by the acclaimed duo Mary Mary, a song close to Mandisa’s heart.

Doolittle, speaking of their long-standing friendship, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of her dear friend. Gokey recalled Mandisa’s unwavering support during his own struggles, while Dixon believed the song choice perfectly encapsulated Mandisa’s life and legacy.
