Nollywood actor and producer Stanley Ontop has raised urgent concerns over the safety of actress Angela Okorie, following reports that authorities might attempt to re-arrest her immediately after her release from Suleja Prison.
Angela Okorie was detained last week at Suleja Prison over an alleged defamation case involving fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
She was granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja last Friday.
Despite the court’s approval, Angela has remained behind bars, sparking confusion and concern among fans.
In an update on Instagram on Monday, February 3, Stanley Ontop explained that the delay was linked to the verification of her surety’s residential address.
He confirmed that the court had signed off on her release, removing the last obstacle keeping her in custody.
“Angela Okorie will be out in a few minutes. There was a delay in the verification of her surety’s residential address yesterday, but the court has now signed for her release,” he stated.
However, Stanley warned that a new petition had emerged against the actress.
He claimed that police officers were reportedly stationed outside Suleja Prison, prepared to detain Angela immediately upon her release.
“We received info that there’s a fresh petition against Angela Okorie and that some policemen are stationed in front of Suleja Prison to apprehend her again immediately she’s released,” he added.
Stanley also criticized the Nigerian Police for allegedly bypassing proper procedures, questioning their methods publicly:
“@nigeriapoliceforce is this how you operate? What happened to invitations? Why are citizens being arrested by those meant to protect them?”
He concluded with a heartfelt appeal, urging authorities to safeguard Angela’s well-being on the day of her release:
“Make sure nothing happens to Angela Okorie on her release day. May Nigeria never happen to you,” Stanley warned.
