Another explosion has occurred in Rivers State, Nigeria, escalating concerns over safety in the oil-producing region
The latest blast took place on March 18, 2025, at a pipeline manifold in Omwawriwa community, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, just hours after an explosion rocked the Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area.
Authorities confirmed that the earlier explosion at the Shell-operated Trans Niger Pipeline led to a fire, which has since been extinguished. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
These back-to-back explosions have raised alarms over the security and stability of critical oil infrastructure in the region.
