The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) announced on Sunday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the local council elections held on Saturday.
Chairman Jossey Eze declared that the APC secured all 13 chairmanship seats and 171 ward councillorship positions across the state. He confirmed the participation of three political parties – APC, APGA, and LP – in the elections.
Eze further stated that the commission ratified the chairmanship results from the local government areas as announced by the returning officers, along with the councillorship results declared at the electoral wards.
He commended the peaceful conduct of the elections and thanked security agencies and all stakeholders for their support. Eze also expressed gratitude to the state government for allowing the elections to proceed without interference, which contributed to their credibility, freedom, and fairness.
Reflecting on the outcome, Eze urged the winners to inclusively govern and deliver democratic benefits to grassroots communities, which local governments represent. He summarized the winners of key positions across various local government areas in the state.
