Spotify has revealed the top five most-streamed podcasts in Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya for 2024
In a statement on Thursday, Ncebakazi Manzi, Spotify’s Sub-Saharan Africa Podcast Manager, highlighted the popularity of podcasts across the continent, with nearly four billion minutes of podcast audio streamed in Sub-Saharan Africa this year. South Africa led the way with over two billion minutes, followed by Nigeria with 700 million minutes.
In Nigeria, “Apostle Femi Lazarus” topped the charts, followed by “Motivation Daily by Motiversity,” “Success Addicted Podcast,” “Apostle Joshua Selman,” and “The HonestBunch Podcast.”
South Africa’s top five included “The Joe Rogan Experience,” “The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett,” “What Now? With Trevor Noah,” “Motivation Daily by Motiversity,” and “Podcast and Chill with MacG.”
Kenya’s most-streamed podcasts were “The 97s Podcast,” “So This Is Love,” “The Mkurugenzi Podcast,” “Mic Cheque Podcast,” and “The Sandwich Podcast.”
Manzi noted that podcasts are a key storytelling medium in Africa, with motivational and spirituality-themed shows particularly popular. Conversation-style shows like “I Said What I Said” and “The HonestBunch Podcast” also continue to attract large audiences, reflecting the diverse tastes of listeners across the continent.
