Aproko Doctor has urged Nigerians to remain calm following reports of a confirmed Ebola case in Abuja, reminding the public that the disease does not spread through the air and cannot be transmitted by an infected person before symptoms appear.
In a post, he said:
“One confirmed Ebola case in Abuja. She’s isolated.
It’s not airborne, and an infected person cannot transmit it before symptoms begin.
Fever after travelling or coming into contact with someone who is sick? Skip the chemist and call NCDC on 6232 first.
And abeg, no salt water!”.
He advised anyone who develops a fever after travelling or coming into contact with a sick person to contact the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) rather than attempt to treat the symptoms without proper medical guidance.
He also cautioned against using salt water as a remedy, stressing the importance of relying on appropriate medical advice when dealing with a suspected Ebola infection.
