The Nigerian Army has clarified the circumstances that led to the arrest of social media influencer Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, stating that he was detained following findings that suggested subversive conversations with some soldiers
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said initial attention was drawn to Chidiebere’s online posts highlighting soldiers’ complaints about feeding and welfare conditions.
However, further investigation reportedly revealed that his interactions with the personnel extended beyond welfare discussions.

According to the Army, preliminary findings showed that the influencer engaged soldiers in conversations that could encourage disaffection within the ranks.
“The soldiers discussed a wide range of issues with Justice Chidiebere, who seemed to be inciting soldiers to create discontent within the system. An example was a chat bordering on subversion which Chidiebere had with the soldiers,” the statement said.
The military warned that such behaviour poses serious risks to discipline and national security, stressing that attempts to influence personnel in that manner cannot be ignored.
Chidiebere was arrested alongside the affected soldiers, with the Army confirming that while the soldiers remain in military custody, the influencer has been handed over to civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
It added that the case also involved alleged violations of its social media regulations and efforts to mislead the public.
Reaffirming its position, the Army said it remains committed to due process and will continue working with relevant agencies to ensure accountability is maintained.
