De Rossi’s departure comes despite extending his contract until 2027 in June, following a promising six-month stint as caretaker. The former midfielder took over in January 2024, replacing José Mourinho.

During his tenure, De Rossi managed 26 games, securing 13 wins and six defeats. He led Roma to sixth in Serie A last season and the Europa League semifinals. However, a poor start to this season sealed his fate.

Roma’s statement read: “The club’s decision is made to get back on the desired path as soon as possible, considering the season’s early stages.”

The club thanked De Rossi for his passion and dedication, acknowledging his permanent place in Roma’s history.

Roma will announce De Rossi’s replacement soon.
