Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has joined Saudi Women’s League club, Al Hilal from National Women’s Soccer League side Bay FC on a two-year deal

The 30-year-old striker, who joined Bay FC in February 2024 after a highly successful spell at FC Barcelona Femeni, underwent medicals on Monday night before sealing the move.

According to The Athletic, Bay FC and Al Hilal agreed on an undisclosed transfer fee, with Oshoala already in Saudi Arabia to finalize the deal. She missed Bay FC’s 2-1 defeat to Angel City on Monday as her switch was being completed.

During her time in the United States, Oshoala made 25 league appearances—23 as a starter—scoring seven goals and providing one assist last season. In total, she featured in 38 matches for Bay FC, netting eight times. However, her influence in the squad declined, with head coach Albertin Montoya noting her need to adapt to the NWSL’s playing style and defensive demands.

“In this league you have to… and that’s something we’re working with her,” Montoya said. “So when she gets that and has the confidence in front of goal to score and also helps us defensively, that’s when she’ll be at her best.”

Oshoala’s move to Al Hilal offers a fresh start for the six-time Women’s African Player of the Year, who has previously starred for top clubs across Europe, Asia, and the USA. She was also part of the Super Falcons squad that clinched a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco last July.
