Top opposition figures across party lines have converged at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the official unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform for a new political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections

Prominent political heavyweights at the event include:
- Atiku Abubakar, 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
- Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 flag bearer
- Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State
- Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation
Also in attendance are David Mark, former Senate President, and Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun State Governor, who were recently appointed interim National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, respectively.
Other key figures present at the unveiling include:
- Senator Dino Melaye
- Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung
- Publisher and politician, Dele Momodu
- Senators Gabriel Suswam and Ireti Kingibe
- Former Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha
- Former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd)
The coalition’s unveiling had initially been scheduled to take place at the Wells Carlton Hotel, but the venue reportedly withdrew just hours before the event, citing internal compliance issues. Organizers swiftly relocated the event to the Yar’Adua Centre, where proceedings are now ongoing.
The gathering marks a major step in what is seen as an effort to form a united political front capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
