Speaking with journalists in Akure on Wednesday, Makinde said: “I don’t think that will make any dent on PDP as a party. PDP is an institution and you have freedom of entrance and exit.”

His comments followed Atiku’s formal resignation from the party in Adamawa earlier the same day.

Makinde, who was in Akure as the keynote speaker at a colloquium marking the 10th coronation anniversary of Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure, also brushed aside concerns about the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as just another party participating in elections alongside the PDP.
