Ayra Starr has made history as the first Nigerian female artist to appear on the U.S. Billboard 200 Album chart with her second studio album, “The Year I Turned 21”
The album debuted at number 195 on Monday, solidifying Ayra Starr’s trailblazing status in the Nigerian music industry.
This achievement paves the way for future generations of female artists.
“The Year I Turned 21” has also made history as the first album by a female Nigerian artist to enter the UK Official Album chart (debuting at No. 80) and the French Album chart (debuting at No. 72).
While Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” remains the highest-charting Nigerian album in the US (reaching No. 14) and the first Nigerian album to reach No. 1 on the UK album chart, Ayra Starr’s achievement marks a significant milestone in her career and for female Nigerian artists.
