Music icon, Rihanna has revealed hat Nigerian singer Ayra Starr taught her the difference between Afrobeats and Amapiano.
The moment surfaced in a video where a woman was explaining the distinction between the two popular African music genres.
While listening, Rihanna smiled and responded, “Ayra Starr taught me,” before breaking into a grin.
Her comment quickly caught the attention of fans, with many praising Ayra Starr for helping push African music culture further onto the global stage.
Afrobeats, which originated mainly from West Africa, especially Nigeria and Ghana, has grown into one of the world’s biggest music genres in recent years, while Amapiano emerged from South Africa with its signature deep house and piano-driven sound.
