Nigerian comedian, actor, and producer AY Makun’s latest film The Waiter has surpassed ₦300 million at the Nigerian box office

On January 16, 2025, the film reached a remarkable ₦302 million, securing its position as one of Nollywood’s top-performing releases.
In its fourth week, The Waiter earned an additional ₦26.6 million, continuing its success amid stiff competition.
Since its release on December 20, 2024, the film quickly captured the audience’s attention, crossing the ₦200 million mark within its first two weeks, and reaching ₦218.6 million by early January.
The story centers on Akpos, played by AY Makun, a man struggling with life who finds a temporary job as a waiter at the prestigious Crystal Hotel. His world changes dramatically during a high-profile event hosted by the Minister of Poverty Alleviation, where a new initiative to help the underprivileged is introduced. With a blend of humor, action, and touching moments, The Waiter has resonated deeply with audiences.
