Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, sparked controversy during a live broadcast on TVC after abruptly telling the show’s presenter to “shut up.”
The heated exchange occurred when the presenter questioned Lawal’s differing stance on the electoral processes under President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari, in whose government Lawal once served.
“Mr. Lawal, but it’s the same electoral process in 2019 and 2023, and the same administration you served under. I didn’t see quite much difference between then and now,” the interviewer said.
Visibly irritated, Lawal cut in sharply: “Give it a break, man. Shut up, shut up.”
The moment has since gone viral, igniting a wave of reactions online. While some viewers criticized Lawal for his tone and choice of words, others defended his reaction as a response to what they saw as a leading or unfair question.
