Bamise: Police conduct forensics on BRT vehicle, await result

A Superintendent of Police, Goddy Ihende, on Monday, told a Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, that the police conducted a forensic examination on the Bus Rapid Transit vehicle driven by a murder suspect, Andrew Ominikoron.

Ominikoron is standing trial for the murder of a 22-year-old fashion designer, Oluwabamise Ayanwole, whom he carried on his bus on February 26, 2022.

Ihende told Justice Sherifat Sonaike that it would take time to get the result of the forensic analysis.

He disclosed this while being cross-examined by the defence counsel, Mr Abayomi Omotubora.

The officer, who is the seventh prosecution witness, said the defendant picked up the victim from Chevron Bus Stop instead of the designated BRT park.

He said, “In my earlier answer, I said the defendant was not supposed to pick up a passenger that is not at the BRT Bus Stop but he went ahead and did that because he didn’t want to remit the money to the Lagos State Government’s account.”

Asked if during the course of investigation he found out whether the victim paid any fare for boarding the vehicle, the witness said the person who would have answered that was late (Bamise).
