The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed the arrest of four suspected ba.ndits near Akure Airport following a joint security operation
According to FAAN, the suspects were captured after a distress alert reported suspicious individuals moving behind the airport’s perimeter fence toward the Eleyewo Community area of Ondo State.

In a statement issued by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, security personnel quickly mobilised to the location after the alert. The team involved FAAN’s aviation security unit alongside officers from the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police Force, among other security agencies.
Agbebire said some of the suspects attempted to escape during the operation but four of them were eventually apprehended by the joint security team.
“During the operation, some individuals reportedly attempted to flee the area, but four suspects were eventually apprehended by the joint security team.”
The FAAN spokesperson said the suspects have since been handed over to the police area command for further interrogation and investigation.
He commended the swift coordination among the security agencies, noting that their collaboration made it possible to quickly contain the situation and arrest the suspects.
